Series consists of correspondence relating to four generations of the Russel family. Most of the correspondence surrounds the business concerns of Colin Fowler Russel and the management of the estate after his death in 1855. The sale of timber was a considerable portion of the family's income who had extensive landholdings in Quebec in Ontario. Correspondence deals mainly with business matters including issues pertaining to the sale of timber, timber theft and squatters on their land among other dealings.
